You are worth it, so let’s get started…

So often many of us get lost our busy day-to-day lives and forget to take time to nurture and strengthen our mental health. We can be left feeling stressed, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, exhausted and or experience trauma. Having a safe space and a non-judgmental ear to listen to you can be a wonderful start to your mental wellness journey.

The first step, when making any change in our lives, can be daunting and intimidating. People are often left feeling stuck, not knowing how to take the first step. Getting started in therapy can feel the same way. I am fortunate to have a wonderfully supportive team at Niyama Center who are here to help you get started with completing paperwork and setting up an intake appointment. They will guide you through the first steps, and then I will be here to guide you through the rest. You are not alone, and you do not have to figure everything out on your own.

I work with a variety of clients…

I have a particular niche for working with women and men who may be struggling with poor self-esteem, anxiety disorders, stress, depression, ocd, and trauma. I also enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing difficulties navigating the relationships in their lives. Together, we can explore working with you through an trauma lens where I use EMDR Therapy, CBT- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and DBT- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy lens where I use interpersonal effectiveness skills, communication skills, and boundary setting skills to help you nurture and maintain the important relationships in your life.

I work best with clients who are open-minded and willing to try a variety of new skills and practices to improve their mental well-being. It is important that these clients are motivated to make changes in their lives, even if they are not sure how to do so yet. I am here to support, encourage, empower, and advocate for all my clients throughout their journey to a happier, healthier life.

All are welcome and safe..

I identify as an ally to the LGBTQ+ community; all are welcome and safe with me. This also applies to all individuals of different backgrounds, religions, races, ethnicities, and cultures. I will never pretend to be an expert on your life experiences, but I promise to listen, learn, and meet you where you are at

About Me

How I can help you…

My first goal in providing therapy is to learn about you, where you are in your life, and what you are hoping to experience through therapy. I focus on a client-centered approach and put significant emphasis on building quality and lasting rapport with my clients. I use a gentle, empathic, and compassionate approach to therapy to allow my clients to feel safe, relaxed, understood, and validated in every session. I also find a lot of benefit in using a light-hearted and humorous approach (when appropriate) as laughter can be the best medicine. I believe you are the expert on YOU, and I am here to follow your lead. Together, we can work on decreasing/managing your symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. We will explore the distorted/negative thoughts and beliefs that have developed throughout your life and start to challenge, reframe, and replace them. We will discuss self-care and create a self-care routine for yourself, if you don’t already have one. Overall, I am here to help you find mental wellness, build self-love, and thrive in your lifelong journey.

Education and training…

I received my Bachelor of Social Work Degree in 2012 from the University of Windsor and my Master of Social Work Degree in 2013 from Wayne State University, where I specialized in clinical social work with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

I have completed extensive training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),  Mindfulness and Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) I have worked with a variety of clients with various concerns such as major depression, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, relationship issues, ocd, trauma, stress, and self-esteem issues. I have also worked with clients pre and post bariatric surgery to provide support to lead to success in meeting their goals. If you are looking for anxiety therapy, depression therapy, trauma therapy or therapy for borderline personality disorder then I can help you!

When I am not giving therapy…

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I travel to Canada regularly, as that’s where I was born and raised, and where all my family lives. I have an energetic lab/cattle dog mix, Rumi, whom I love to walk and take to the dog park. I also have two sweet kitties, Poppy and Fern, whom I love to cuddle and relax with. My pets are a large part of my self-care routine, but I also enjoy art projects, dancing, singing, being outdoors, watching documentaries, and have recently started to learn how to propagate house plants

Let’s get started on creating the life you desire…

Your journey doesn’t have to be traveled alone. I am here to help support, encourage, and empower you along the way.
