Aisleen, LLMSW, CBT Therapist

Hello! I am so glad you landed here…

This is your first step to change and you made it!

Life isn’t always lemonade and cupcakes…

Significant others, jobs, relationships and everyday life tends to complicate things. Dealing with the many components of life can be challenging at times. Feeling a lot of different feelings can be debilitating, especially when paired with stress and no supports to talk to. I work primarily with adults, couples and teenagers.

When working with adults, I work with those who suffer from depression, grief, anxiety, low self-esteem, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder. Those who struggle to find balance and set boundaries in everyday life activities. Working with couples, I work with relationship difficulties. When working with teenagers, I work with those who are dealing with school issues, family conflict, oppositional defiance, behavioral issues, stress, and relationship issues. In addition, I work with parents on parenting and helping their children.

Often clients come to me after experiencing ups & downs or/and a traumatic event, such as: a breakup, the birth of a child, losing a job, couple troubles, and anything else that has impacted their life. They may feel they don’t know where to turn and don’t know how to tell others no.

Finding a therapist..

Finding the right match is similar to finding the perfect house to purchase. You visit many, go back to a couple a few times, but ultimately realize it is not your ideal match. There are many different approaches to therapy, and it is ok to find the right fit.

We will work together to develop the perfect plan to move forward that is comfortable for you. We will get to know each other, laugh together, and problem-solve together. You will never leave your session feeling alone or defeated. I will listen to your concerns and worries and guide you toward your ideal solution. My approach is client-centered, and every session will be focused around what you, as the client want to focus on.

Whether you have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, ups & downs, and/or low self-esteem you can be sure that you will find hope in each session. As you learn coping skills, and new activities to assist with your experiences, you will find that you begin to feel renewed and rejuvenated, even outside of sessions.

A nourishing, judgment-free environment…

Coming to therapy can be fun! We will make sure the environment we create for you each session is nourishing and nice to be in. Opening up can be difficult, but I will ensure that we build a solid connection with each other so opening up can be natural.

Therapy can be life changing..

The clients who see the greatest benefit from their sessions with me are those that want to improve their life through therapy. Regularly attending sessions and being able to open up about what is hindering them. Sometimes resistance may come through the door and that’s ok. As long as you are open to change, you will see change.

I help clients by using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach paired with mindfulness. I will help you by teaching you how to change thoughts, feelings & actions. We will analyze all of these to see which thoughts are helpful and which one’s aren’t. When paired with mindfulness, clients see significant improvement with their symptoms and develop positive coping skills to thrive.

Our first session will be getting to know you. This session is more of an open-ended session where we collect all the information about your life so I can get to know you as a whole person. We will also develop your goals here and what you want to work on in therapy. We analyze goals every three months to make sure you are getting the most out of your experience. After the intake is completed, follow-up sessions are based on what you would like to work on & see improvement on in your life. Throughout our time together, I will provide you with different tips, tricks, and coping tools. Client’s usually see me weekly for awhile until we feel goals are met.

About Me

How I can help you…

Throughout my adolescence and adulthood, I have always been the friend that is willing to provide a listening ear.

I understand how experiences can affect a person throughout the rest of their life.

While I provide lots of empathy, I can also be blunt when needed if you are hitting a wall in treatment.

Education and training…

I earned my Bachelors in Social Work from Saginaw Valley State University in 2016. I have worked within mental health since 2017 doing case management, Home and Community-Based Rule implementation within a Community Mental Health, and supervising a Housing Resource team within the same Community Mental Health.

In 2021 I chose to go back to school. I obtained my Masters in Social Work in 2022 from Saginaw Valley State University. Once I received my MSW, I began supervising a Support Coordination team working with those with diagnosed mental illness and intellectual or developmental disabilities.

I have also done significant Crisis Intervention work within a local hospital contracted with Community Mental Health. I provided pre-screenings and assistance with placing individuals in psychiatric hospitals that needed more intensive services than what outpatient services could offer.

Throughout my career, I have had significant training and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing.

When I am not giving therapy…

I enjoy spending watching Married at First Sight and The Bachelor franchise.

I am also an avid reader and frequent the local bookstore on a regular basis.

I enjoy going to coffee shops, and go to Starbucks for my daily pick-me-up.
