Founder of Niyama Center
I want to give you an enriching, transformational experience…
I believe that effective therapy is a partnership.
Through our work together, you’ll have a chance to get to know who you are, make healthy changes and grow as a person.
I will help you find balance and alignment in your life by tapping into your strengths to create new behavior patterns.
We will dive deep into what is happening in your life, why you are the way you are, and how to change patterns that no longer serve you.
Using a collaborative approach, you’ll learn to manage those racing thoughts and communicate effectively with the people in your life. You’ll also acquire tools that you can keep in your back pocket in times of need.
I’m here to be that unbiased, nonjudgmental third party who can support you on that journey.
Meeting your goals quickly and efficiently…
I’ll show you how to use new coping strategies to calm down those worrying thoughts so that you experience life with less anxiety and conquer your trauma. Together, we’ll challenge and reframe negative thoughts using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, EMDR Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) & Nervous System Regulation.
We’ll dive into your life and any relationship challenges to examine how you approach them so that you have the fulfilling relationships you want.
Struggling with setting boundaries in your relationships? I’ll show you how to use your voice, assert yourself, and communicate what you need and want.
Homework is given between sessions so that you can continuously work on yourself. But don’t worry: It’s easy and fun! Homework can include worksheets to help challenge your negative thoughts or maybe revisiting a topic we discuss in a session.
To meet your goals quickly, off the bat, we will go over your therapy expectations and what you hope to gain from our time together. Our sessions will be structured, so you’re meeting goals quickly. We will go over anything you tried or practiced between sessions, track your progress, or discuss any obstacles that you are facing. We’ll then plan for the next steps you want to take.
We will also look at how your nervous system works and fully map it out together. If you are interested in EMDR/trauma therapy, this will be done prior and then we will get right into EMDR to gain quick results & resolve any trauma that may arise.
As your therapist, I will provide guidance, reassurance, and helpful feedback and support you in your discoveries. I’ll help you identify what is holding you back and guide you in setting and achieving goals that move you toward a strong, happier self. You are an expert on yourself, and I will guide you to find your answers. By the end of our time, you will understand yourself and have a good grip on who you are, who your best self is.
The ultimate goal is to teach you how to become an expert on yourself to become your own therapist. No one wants to be in therapy forever, right??
Education and training…
I received my bachelor’s in Psychology from Michigan State University and my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Loyola University Chicago, specializing in mental health.
As a licensed Clinical Social Worker, I work with both men & women struggling with symptoms of anxiety & trauma.
I have trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for anxiety, and Polyvgal Theory for nervous system regulation as well as mindfulness practices. I am certified in EMDR through EMDRIA. If you are struggling, I can help you through Anxiety Therapy, Depression Therapy, and Trauma Therapy.
When I’m not doing therapy…
I enjoy skiing in the winter and hanging on the lake in the summer.
I cook amazing vegetarian and vegan meals.
I also enjoy reading books and meditating… making sure that I feel Zen on the regular.
This is your time to be brave…
… to give therapy a chance! To be willing to talk about yourself, be vulnerable, and trust that you will have unconditional positive regard no matter what you say. We will work with you through your thought process, negative thoughts, anxiety, etc.
It’s ok to ask for help.
Whether your problems are big or small, you deserve to feel supported, heard and validated.
Let’s empower you and heal your mind!
