Megan Anderson, LLMSW

Hello there!

Are you ready to transform into your best self? I am glad you are here.

We all have something…

Something that has changed us, something we don’t like about ourselves or our world, something missing. It is not uncommon to feel unfulfilled in our daily lives. The day-to-day and “going through the motions” can become daunting, monotonous, and overwhelming. It can feel like we are trapped in a whirlwind of emotion, negativity, depression, and anxiety. It is hard to get out of the rut alone.

I primarily work with teenagers and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, history of domestic violence, and those who struggle with social relationships. Most people do not seek therapy during the happiest times of their lives. Most clients seek treatment after reaching rock bottom, and recognizing they need help climbing the mountain of emotion in front of them. Since I began to talk, that’s what I’ve been passionate about.

Throughout my life I have always found myself striving to promote positivity and others to become the best version of themselves. One of the most important parts of therapy is finding the right fit! Seeking therapy is almost always a very vulnerable experience and it is filled with personal information and uncomfortable truths. It is absolutely necessary to find the right fit between client/therapist.  During our time together, we will address situations in your past, present, and potential future that are “tricky” and it will be my goal to ensure you are comfortable with me.

As your therapist…

I can’t do the hard work for you; but I can support and guide you through the process. I pride myself on being straightforward as well as extremely empathetic. Our therapeutic relationship will allow you to see your world from a different perspective and use an outsider’s point of view in problem-solving. As your therapist, I strive to remain judgment free and non-critical. This allows me to be the biggest cheerleader on your path to better mental health.  As a life-long learner, I want to learn all about YOU. I have an uncanny ability to identify strengths in you, that maybe you can’t see in yourself. Working through affirmations and self-esteem to set strong boundaries to become a happier and healthier you.

There are things that happen in our lives that leave a lasting impression on our minds, heart, and soul. Events that shape us and our personalities, for the better as well as for the worst. Various traumas and triggers make relationships hard, parenting hard, school hard, and even just general day-to-day functions hard. Let’s make it easier. You don’t have to carry the weight of your trauma alone. We can unpack it from the messy suitcase you buried it in, fold it up neatly, and put it away properly so it isn’t staring at us from the closet floor anymore. Together, I’m excited to work with you to bring you the fulfillment, mental clarity, and peace you are seeking in your life.

I commend you for seeking support. I’m already proud of you and I think you are ready to be proud of yourself. Therapy is a commitment to a relationship with yourself. You likely have put so much time and effort into relationships with others, and it’s time to give back to you! It is important that the expectation is that therapy takes place during the session, as well as outside of our session.

Working together…

I can teach you skills and strategies, but like anything, it takes practice. We will work together to create goals that you would like to achieve and give you the tools to reach new heights. We will address the emotional WORK that goes into therapy as well!

In healing, there are fluctuations. It’s all normal. (“What is normal, by the way?” It can be defeating, rewarding, and a whirlwind week to week, but I am excited to provide you a safe space to experience that process and GROW

The end goal…

Through Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), psychodynamic therapy and other modalities, we can help heal you.

About Me

How I got here…

As most therapists begin, my journey started when I experienced my own trauma. I struggled with self-worth and self-esteem after encountering domestic violence. During that period in my life, I decided not only do I need to help myself and my children, but also developed the need to help others. The hardships I faced throughout my healing journey promoted immense growth and passion in this field. My journey showed me the importance of self-respect and positivity. I learned that we are only in control of our own actions and reactions and was able to become the best version of myself through hard work and self-love. I am passionate about aiding others in their journey and guiding them through the hard work to assist them in changing their thoughts to create a better future.

Some of my education and training…

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Health Service Administration from Baker College in 2014 and then obtained my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Spring Arbor University in 2022. My social work experience has been vast and I have worked with many ages and stages in the inpatient and school settings as well as with nonprofit senior services. In practice, I use many perspectives and theoretical approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Interpersonal Therapy,  Psychodynamic therapy, and emotion-focused therapy (EFT).

When I am not doing therapy…

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like to use my creative energy and spend a lot of time creating things that bring me joy. I like to read and I am always open to learning something new!

It’s time to take care of you..

It’s time to be bold. It’s time to unlearn bad habits, and reinvent yourself into someone you are proud of. I would be honored to join you on your healing journey and be your biggest cheerleader in promoting positivity and peace in your life and support you in obtaining more delight, gratification, and wholeness. Seeking help can be scary, but you’re here and that’s the first step. I assure you, together we can overcome the negative emotions you are facing!
